Stéphane Dion is now leading in the race for the federal Liberal leadership, moving ahead of Michael Ignatieff after a third round of voting.
Bob Rae, who was second heading into the vote, ended up in third place and won’t be in the running for the fourth and final ballot.
Dion earned 37 per cent of the vote, Ignatieff finished with 34.5 per cent and Rae had 28.5 per cent.
Rae said he’s releasing all of his delegates to vote as they wish. “I will not tell them how to vote and I will keep my own counsel with respect to how I plan to vote.”
“This has been a great high for me,” Rae told reporters. “It’s been a wonderful campaign and I have no regrets.”
