On the Sunday before Thanksgiving (which is on the 2nd Monday of October) our church family suprised us with a pounding. We thank God for such a wonderful church family.

Today we had a church picnic, followed by an afternoon hymn sing at 2:00 PM. We had 40 in the morning service and 32 in the afternoon service. We also had a graduation party for Connor, who is headed for South Africa.
At the hymn sing we sang: “I’ve settled the Question; Satisfied; Jesus, Sweetest Name I Know; and Victory in Jesus.” We also had a ladies quartet and instrumental. I preached this on “Keeping our Praise up-to-date” (Psalm 149).

Today we had Bro. Ackerman and his grandson Skylar over for lunch. We also had Ed Kennedy and Laura Langstaff (Ed’s sweetheart) over for lunch as well. Catch a glimpse at what could be used as an engagement picture someday in the future…

I’m sitting at the Microtel Motel in Colonie, NY using the motel’s computer. It sure is different being in this foreign country. We traveled to the land of rebellion yesterday, (God Save the Queen!) to attend the 88th Annuall Conference of the Pilgrim Holiness Church of NY, Inc. We had our first session that lasted from 7-10PM, followed by a Resolution Committee meeting from 10:00-11:00PM.
Today we are headed back for two more sessions and an ordination service.
We won an award for our 59% increase in our Sunday School.
More to come later…

“A Person’s a Person, no matter how small!”
Posted by Joseph under Canadian Politics, Church1 Comment

On May 14, 2009 a van load from the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Kingston, Ontario travelled to our national capital (which is Ottawa – for my American readers). We were particpating with approximately 12,000 Canadians in the “National March for Life.” This was the biggest crowd that has turned out for the March for Life since it began twelve years ago. It is also the biggest public gathering on Parliament Hill every year.
It is troubling to think of the almost 3,000,000 Canadian citizens that have been murdered over the last 40 years; that this crime has been allowed in this country. That is almost three times the size of the province of Nova Scotia and almost 22 times the size of Prince Edward Island’s population. Perhaps these murders will also result in an economic crisis, with such a large number of the future work force being exterminated.
May God hasten the day when these murders will cease in Canada. There were 18 Members of Parliament that spoke for life, as well as, several women who have had abortions speaking out in favour of life. There was one public school girl who gave her speach on the right for life and she quoted Horton the Elephant “A persons a person no matter how small” (Dr. Seuss: “Horton Hears a Who”).

The State of Arkansas passed a bill allowing concealed handguns in church. It removes churches and other houses of worship from the list of places where concealed handguns are banned. The bill’s sponsor, Representative Beverly Pyle, said she introduced the measure after a series of church shootings across the country. She said it would be up to each individual church whether to allow the concealed guns. “It is time we changed our concealed-handgun law to allow law-abiding citizens of the state of Arkansas the right to defend themselves and others should a situation happen in one of our churches,” she said. One pastor from the state said. “We must put our faith in God and not put our faith in something else. Let us keep the sanctity of churches and put our faith in God and not in guns.”
I wonder if Ontario will pass the same legislation…
