D.L. Moody

“Fire! Fire in the hold!” shouted an excited sailor. D.L. Moody, the great evangelist was on board sailing across the Atlantic. A bucket brigade was quickly organized to douse the flames. A friend said to Moody, “Let us go to the other end of the ship and pray.” The commonsense evangelist replied, “No we will stand right here and pass the buckets along and pray hard all the time as we help get water to the flames.” Moody believed that prayer and works were like the two hands of a man, inseparable and always working together.
